Abstract

Relevance. A significant number of Russian athletes have faced suspension from participation in international competitions. Such unmotivated removal of athletes negatively affects their psychophysical state and requires additional medical and psychological intervention. The article analyzes various aspects of the psychological support for the preparation of an athlete, and shows

what additional psychological support is needed in this situation.

Intention is to analyze the current situation in sports from the point of view of a clinical psychologist and consider the methods for the necessary correction of the psychological state of athletes.

Methodology. A theoretical analysis of the material has been carried out, a set of additional psychological effects has been determined, aimed at correcting negative changes in the psyche of athletes removed from big-time sports.

Results and Discussion. The article analyzes the factors influencing the results of sports training and the psychological state of athletes. It is shown that the tasks that are set for a sports psychologist due to the changed situation go beyond the scope of his professional competence and require the participation of a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. A complex of psychological correction of negative psycho-physiological states of athletes, caused by their suspension from participation in international competitions, has been developed.

Conclusion. Since the current situation has affected almost all the main areas of work of a sports psychologist, it is necessary to transform the system of psychological support for athletes, providing athletes with the necessary help from clinical psychologists and psychotherapists.
