Psychological online counseling for HIV-infected pregnant women
Abstract
The article presents the results of a preliminary research aimed at studying the satisfaction of HIV-infected pregnant women with online counseling, as a new format of interaction among themselves in a group, with psychologists and doctors of the AIDS Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was analyzed the data of the questionnaire of 65 pregnant women aged from 21 to 40 years, who participated in group online counseling in the period from 29.07 to 25.11.2020. If compearing to the traditional form of face-to-face counseling (f2f), according to this research, online counseling is more attractive for pregnant women seen at the AIDS Center. The results of the questionnaire survey conducted within the framework of this study, on the one hand, showed that patients were well aware of the topic of adherence to ART, prevention of HIV transmission from mother to child, and on the other hand, revealed their new needs. Prenatal online counseling in a group is a new technological model for providing psychological assistance to HIV-infected pregnant women, solving the problem of accessibility, and also meets the urgent needs of pregnant women living with HIV.
