Personality factor of autodestructive behavior of adolescents

Abstract

The paper presents a study of the influence of a teenager's personality on self-destructive behavior. The author believes that the main reason for the autodestructive behavior of adolescents is the peculiarities of their personality development. In this regard, the question is raised about the inner work of the adolescent's personality, its self-consciousness in the genesis of auto-destruction, about what and how in the personality triggers the energy of self-destruction. The aim of the study is to identify the non-specific and specific contribution of the personality of adolescents in the formation of auto-destruction. A comprehensive psychological and mathematicalstatistical study was conducted on a representative sample of adolescents (n=600), which allowed us to introduce the complex personality variable Factor I as a key determinant of auto-destructive behavior. The study showed important contributions (general and specific) of psychological components of personality to the processes of self-determination of self-destruction in various life situations.
